OOTD: The One Where I Spend Christmas In A Fancy Hotel and Nearly Get Stuck In A Flood

Primark Dress Worn As Top: eBay | Topshop Skater Skirt: via eBay | Velour Heels: eBay

Happy New Year kids! I hope you had a really relaxing one with lots of food, drink and loved ones. I myself have had a cracking time consuming chocolate for breakfast everyday and a steady drip feed of Aldi Amaretto each night, but at the same time, I'm really looking forward to getting my rear back in gear and hopefully making 2016 just as much fun as 2015.

For Christmas day itself, we (myself,  my parents and my brother) went a little leftfield this year and spent it at a hotel in York, which made a weird-but-welcome change from all the crowded living rooms, non-stop washing up and inevitable squash for beds. While I probably wouldn't rush to repeat the experience (I couldn't get over how rude some of the guests were to hotel staff, it's bloody christmas after all!), it was a lovely couple of days break that put me in a properly relaxed mood, cut swiftly short when I woke up on the 27th to rapidly approaching floodwaters and the fear that I wouldn't be able to get back to my beloved Leeds. Luckily we were fine, but others weren't so lucky- if you're a music lover or have some Xmas money jangling in your pocket, I would thoroughly recommend donating some money to the lovely folk at Suburban Home and/or Blueberry Hill records, who had thousands of pounds worth of equipment completely ruined.

Anyhow, here's what I wore this year for the big day itself. Yep, I chickened out of my technicolour chrimbo jumper last minute and went for a slightly more retro-70s-office-party look instead - a Primark tunic of a much higher quality than it's nametag might suggest, Topshop skirt and some incredible velour heels I found on eBay. They're remarkably similar to a pair that seem to be on sale in Marks & Spencer if you're still in the festive 'go treat yoself' spirit. They're also pretty comfy, despite changing into my loafers a little later on in the night (if you were wondering where the pics above don't match)

While we're still wittering on about New Year, New Me, I'd just like to say thanks to anybody who read this blog in 2015. I don't really have any intentions to become a super-mega glossy blogger anytime soon, but I am hoping to do some polishing up in 2016 - a few more regular features, a more consistent schedule and a fierce new feminist focus. I was also considering a new name, but all in good time. Watch this space...
