August 2015 Second Hand Haul

by - Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Another month over, another haul - better late than never eh? August was quite a big one as I went on holiday and had two massive events with work, so there was plenty of amazing retro temptation. Let's just say it's almost impossible to leave Brick Lane empty handed.

Ringer Tee and Hawaiian Shirt - Glasgow Vintage Kilo Sale

So much colour! I fell in love with both of these as soon as I found them in a rummage tub - mega summery and easy to wear. I'd love to know the story behind the yellow top - who is Kaplan and how did he find himself at Basketball Camp in Illinois? It's one of the many reasons I love vintage - everything has a history.
Dresses - Bethnal Green Kilo Sale

Another set of kilo gems - the first dress caught my eye because the print reminded me of the Topshop dress of the moment that everybody is wearing. It's a little big for me, but I'm planning on getting my sewing machine out and turning it into a co-ord of floaty longline top and mini skirt. Wish me luck!

The hawaiian number was just so fun I couldn't leave it behind - I've worn it loads this summer with heeled sandals and my denim jacket.
Jumper and Dress - Glasgow Vintage Kilo Sale

Girl gotta have her knits for autumn. I was chuffed with both this jumper and dress because they're both super on trend and ripped off left right and centre on the high street of late.

Tropical Dress - Rokit, Check Trousers Beyond Retro

My little Brick Lane beauties! I couldn't believe this frock for £20. Hidden amongst the flowers are a load of fruits and a wrap skirt and I can't wait it to wear it to my parent's party in a few weeks - vintage kitsch glam at it's best. The trousers were also £20 and from Beyond Retro - they take a bit of wriggling into but when they're on they fit perfectly and match my mustard H&M cardi for a low-key retro look.

Denim Shorts and Backpack - Glasgow Vintage Kilo Sale

Finally my quest for the perfect pair of vintage shorts is over! These ones are high waisted, soft-yet-strong and lo and behold, actually cover my bum. Who'd have thunk it? The backback was also a long-awaited find - I love my Cath Kidston backpack but it strains a little at the straps when I try and fit my macbook in. whereas this baby has all the room in the world. Plus it's super 80s, which is never a bad thing.
