Welcome to Jenessa's Wardrobe : The WhitePepper's Vintage Cousin

You know when you lust after a dress forever, uh and ah over buying it and then end up finding a vintage version on eBay for a fraction of the price?

Well, maybe not. That's quite a specific anecdote. But none the less, this gorgeous smock from The White Pepper had taken over most of my dreams recently.

The only problem was the waist. Me and drop waists have never really been the best of friends, for the simple reason that they make me look about seven months pregnant. But that pattern! Those sleeves! The sheer pastel perfection! Where oh where could I get a dress like this that didn't have my major bugbear of a fit?

Enter eBay, stage right.

This dress may well have taken the coveted position as my new Number One Favourite Dress Ever. I know, it's a bold claim, but the fit is beautiful, the length is perfect and due to what I can only put down to a late eBay finish time, I had very little bidding competition and managed to snag it for just £4. It sits just right on my waist and far from feeling like I'm about to give birth, I feel (gulp) pretty.

The moral of the story? If you've loved an item for months, it might be worth going for it - but never compromise on shapes you know will flatter you. Also, The White Pepper is awesome - whilst I might have found an alternative this time, I'm sure I'll be back on their website before long.
